Mark F Permission and Your Quit 2018

I am going to write a post about :

Permission and your quit.

Over the past 114 days I have noticed a lot of people giving themself permission to smoke.

My car died so I caved.

I got into a fight ith my O.H so I caved

My boss yelled at me so I caved

I had a bad day so I caved

My dog got sick so I caved.

I got horrible news. So I caved.
So...........................I gave my self permission to smoke. Did the cigarette fix your car? Help the argument with your O.H? Did the cigarette help the bad news turn into good news? Did the cigarette cure your pet? Did that cigarette make your boss stop being a jerk? How about did the cigarette make your day rainbows and unicorns? Did smoking cure mental illness? All that cigarette did was flood your brain with Dopamine. The feel good hormone and give you a bandaid to a much larger problem. Your addiction to nicotine. Once you stop making excuses to “Why” you need to smoke, thus giving your self permission to smoke, the healing will begin. Instead of listening to the inner junkie cranky as all get out for its 40 minute fix, give yourself permission NOT to smoke. It is okay to say no. It is okay to say I have a problem. It is known as nicotine. If you saw a child run over to the sink and start to drink drain cleaner would you allow it? Of course not. You would never give that child permission to drink something that will and would kill them. So ask yourself. What is the difference to you lighting that cigarette, giving yourself permission to smoke it or giving permission to a child to drink drain cleaner? There is none. Ask yourself why you need to ingest something that will kill you. It is almost crazy thinking. Give yourself permission to buy something with the money you saved not smoking. Give yourself permission to take a nice vacation with the money you saved. Give yourself permission to smell fresh and clean. Give your body the permission it needs to heal and feed the inner soul. Permission to smoke is nothing more then an excuse to kill yourself. Slowly. Get yourself a coffee stir and breath through it. In and out. They say this is how the end stage of COPD feels like. But then again the inner junkie tells you "That will never happen to me" Then one day it does because you did not give yourself permission to quit smoking. It really is as simple as that. Stop smoking. Quit making a big deal about a crave. That is all it is. A crave. Quit giving yourself permission to smoke becuase ALL your friends do. So if a group was standing around the sink with that open bottle of draino (drain cleaner) passing it around you would join in. Really???????? See how the junkie thinking really is. I had to learn to remain quit. Seriously. I was a die hard commited smoker. I planned events around it. I gave my self every type of permission to smoke.

It never ever fixed anything. Not depression, not my car, my fur baby, not an argument. Give yourself permission to go see a DR or Nurse to have a fresh set of eyes look at your quit plan. No excuses as to why you can't. See another DR if his or her plan did not work. Stop with the excuses. And give yourself permission to stay smoke free just for an hour. I promise you. It gets better. Swollow your pride and contact an elder for help. They did not get to the 100's plus days by giving themself permission to smoke. These people will stop what they are doing and tell you it is okay and try this. BUT you have to listen to them and stop playing with the Jack in the Box. Every day I have stayed smoke free the results have been amazing. Do you want amazing too? Stop looking for reasons to smoke. It is so worth it.
