Joyce S I never planned on being an addict, never. circa 2017

I never planned on being an addict, never. I grew up in the 60's & 70's the age of Aquarius. A bunch of stoned out hippie's holding up a peace sign. That was the era I grew up in. I wasn't a hippie, I had to work and only dressed like one on the week-ends. I never really smoked Cannabus. I never sniffed anything, I never shot anything into my arm. I never dropped any pills or used any of the many drugs available at about any street corner, bar or party. When people would try to get to me use any drugs I would say NO, I didn't want to chance getting hooked on anything.
I really got that just say NO campaign down. I never wanted to be addicted to anything. I never bought or used anything that was illegal to use. I bought alcohol, which was legal and I ended up in a 12 step program in few short years over that. And I smoked. All legal.
So now, I find I am reading all about addiction, withdrawal symptoms, how to quit using a drug that is killing me, nicotine. Just now, as I was heating up my egg rolls, I thought WTH. Everything I did was legal. I didn't get this addiction from meeting up with the dealer in the back alley. I got it from the local mini market along with candy bars, bread and milk. Seemed innocent enough at the time.
I was made aware of the risk of addiction to all the other drugs, so I did not use them, period. When I started smoking, years ago, everyone smoked and it simply was no big deal. Then slowly, the fact that smoking could be harmful to health came out. Jump forward to now, years later and we know how harmful to your health smoking is. But not back then we didn't. And even with the knowledge that smoking was harmful to your health I did not fully realize the depth of the addiction to nicotine. It was a bad habit that could stopped at will, many of us didn't want to stop.
A bad little habit. NO a full blown addiction. I am not so sure if they would of put nicotine is a habit forming drug out there that I would of ever used it - I didn't take habit forming addictive drugs.
Now I am just plain mad. Because if the the truth, would of been exposed I am not sure so many would of kept puffing away. If nicotine was put in the light that truly is, A Drug Addiction, there are a whole lot of people that never would touched them in the first place.
Know the truth and the truth will set you free. Cigs are killers - nicotine addiction is real - intended to get you hooked on the drug so you just keep coming back for more. It is no accident that they are addictive, but researched with full intent and knowledge to keep you addicted and buying for more & more profit, period.
They can go straight to Hades - Get Mad - Get Even -

 KEEP YOUR QUIT.
