WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

When you yearn for that cigarette…

Are you thinking...  it will make me feel better?

Or are you thinking...  this is what made me feel bad?

Are you thinking... it will give me courage and strength?

Or are you thinking... this is what has made me dependent and incapable of functioning freely?

Are you thinking...  it will make things more fun and enjoyable?

Or are you thinking...  this is what always interrupted me and got in the way of important events?

Are you thinking...  it will calm me down and get rid of the stress?

Or are you thinking... this is what gets me all worked up and adds to my stress?

The trick to quitting is to find another perspective to smoking, one that is not influenced by addiction...  one that is based on reality and reason, rather than illogical fantasies caused by a drug.

What you think will directly affect what you do.

And when you honestly find no positives in smoking, then quitting will not feel like a deprivation, even if you are enduring withdrawals.     Gummer
